Baseball Recap: Booneville Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Booneville waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Mantachie Mustangs by a score of 7-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-6 last Tuesday.

Cade Lott made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Lott was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Lott wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Porter Tapp, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Clark Janzen, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Booneville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-14. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Mantachie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.

Coming up, Booneville will be playing in front of their home fans against Houston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hilltoppers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mantachie, they will head out on the road to face off against Ingomar at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
