Softball Recap: Royal's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

Royal dropped their record down to 11-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-2 to the Oaks Christian Lions. If the Highlanders were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Lions when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Oaks Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Oaks Christian's part, Sophia Debs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Giabella Otani, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gianna Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Coming up, Royal will take on Camarillo at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Highlanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oaks Christian, they have already played their next game, a 9-4 victory against Stockdale on the 26th.
