Softball Recap: Southern Lee Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pinecrest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Lee). They came out on top against the Pinecrest Patriots by a score of 17-14 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.

Maggie Lucas was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Lexi Britton also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Southern Lee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Southern Lee's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Pinecrest, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Lee will challenge Hoke County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pinecrest, they will take on Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
