Baseball Game Preview: Talawanda Brave vs. Eaton Eagles

The Talawanda Brave will venture away from home to take on the Eaton Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Talawanda is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Talawanda fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Harrison on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2.

Nathaniel Iden put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Iden wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Wright, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Another was Eddie Tanner, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Eaton earned a 5-2 win over Valley View on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Eaton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Talawanda, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Talawanda came up short against Eaton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 10-7. Can the Brave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
