Softball Recap: Durango Trailblazers vs. Rancho Rams
Durango extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They lost 17-1 to the Rancho Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on April 7th.
As for Rancho, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.
For Rancho's part, Brooklynn Braun was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Braun has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Rancho let Annalise Stout and Layla Stout run wild. Annalise went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI, while Layla went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Layla has posted since April 1st. Ashanty Machado was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
As of now, neither Durango nor Rancho have any future games scheduled.
