Softball Recap: Sheboygan Falls Comes Up Short

Sheboygan Falls had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it nine. They came up short against the New Holstein Huskies, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

Sheboygan Falls saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Thill, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for New Holstein, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On New Holstein's side, Makayla Meyer and Makya Pendleton made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Meyer tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Pendleton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meyer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Meyer went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Pendleton got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three stolen bases gave Meyer a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jenna Horn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kourtney Karls also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Sheboygan Falls didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 22-5 loss against Chilton on the 8th. As for New Holstein, they have also already played their next game, a 9-0 victory against Kiel on the 8th.
