Baseball Game Preview: Westlake Demons vs. Bay Rockets

The Westlake Demons will face off against the Bay Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Westlake is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since May 8, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Lakewood.

Cole Jung made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Chris Campbell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Jung, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Westlake lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bay). They put the hurt on Valley Forge with a sharp 14-3 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Bay and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Westlake, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Everything went Westlake's way against Bay in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Westlake made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
