Baseball Game Preview: Highlands Golden Rams vs. Greensburg Salem Golden Lions

Highlands hasn't had much luck against Greensburg Salem recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Golden Rams will challenge the Golden Lions at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Highlands fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Freedom Area on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-7 to the Bulldogs. That's two games in a row now that the Golden Rams have lost by exactly three runs.

Will Singer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kristian Kocon, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Greensburg Salem fell victim to Derry and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 9-0 to the Trojans.

Greensburg Salem has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Highlands, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Highlands came up short against Greensburg Salem when the teams last played back in April of 2019, falling 6-2. Can the Golden Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
