League recap: Analy tops Healdsburg to extend winning streak

Sonoma County recap Oct. 9, 2012

Analy extended the longest winning streak in Sonoma County this week by beating Healdsburg, 63-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Petaluma moved up to 689 from 719 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 51-0 win over El Molino helped the Trojans improve their standing.

Piner's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Noel Hernandez threw for 345 and two touchdowns and Natu Hezchias had 127 yards receiving. On the ground Hernandez chipped in 48 yards. Austin Nahmens helped Piner's passing attack out by catching two balls for 89 yards.

The Prospectors' Hernandez and Hezchias have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hernandez has thrown for 1707 yards this season, while Hezchias, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 51 catches for 735 yards. Analy's Ja' narrick James (skittles) leads the league in rushing yards with 436.

A big matchup in Sonoma County this week will be when the Lions take on Daniel Bourdon's team. El Molino is in fifth place, while the Tigers are in first place.

Petaluma took down Matt Transue's team 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Manuel Alcazar in the win.
