Baseball Recap: Clover Park Takes a Loss

Clover Park extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-10. They came up short against the Orting Cardinals, falling 9-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Tuesday.

As for Orting, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Orting's part, Gabe Schrader made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Schrader was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Boston Barkley, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Dickson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Clover Park will face off against Eatonville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orting, they will take on Port Angeles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Roughriders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
