Volleyball Recap: Baxter Springs Lions vs. Frontenac Raiders
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Baxter Springs can now relate to. They fell just short of the Frontenac Raiders by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss last Tuesday.
Kadence Underhill paced Baxter Springs' offense, picking up seven kills. Underhill got some help from Sam Sheffer and her 20 assists. Olivia Comer controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Frontenac's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laynee Shay, who had 19 digs and one assist. With that strong performance, Shay is now averaging an impressive 10 digs per game. Paige Unruh was another key player, getting ten digs.
Baxter Springs' loss dropped their record down to 26-16. As for Frontenac, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 26-14-1.
Baxter Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Frontenac, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Osage City on the 25th.
