Softball Game Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Orem Tigers

Spanish Fork is a perfect 4-0 against Orem since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Dons will head out to face off against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m.

Spanish Fork couldn't beat Springville on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Dons came up short against the Red Devils, falling 17-7.

Lia Higginson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Orem narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cedar Valley 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Andlie Allen was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sadie Groneman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Orem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Spanish Fork's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Orem, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything went Spanish Fork's way against Orem when the teams last played back in May of 2019, as Spanish Fork made off with an 18-5 victory. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
