Baseball Recap: Bremen Gets the Win

Bremen's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Morgan Township Cherokees. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since May 2nd.

Bremen let Preston Williams and Silas Laidig run wild. Williams went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Laidig went 2-for-5 with one home run and one double. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zack Rouch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bremen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Morgan Township, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-17-1.

Looking ahead, Bremen will look to defend their home field on Monday against Logansport at 5:45 p.m. As for Morgan Township, they are taking a road trip to challenge Highland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
