Baseball Recap: Sulligent Takes a Loss

If Sulligent was riding high fresh off their 14-7 takedown of Carbon Hill last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Devils lost 14-2 to the Lynn Bears on Friday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Sulligent saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Barnett, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The Blue Devils are 2-1 when Barnett posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise.

Sulligent has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Lynn, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Sulligent wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Red Bay on the 25th. As for Lynn, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-0 defeat against Oakman on the 22nd.
