Basketball Game Preview: Eldorado Golden Eagles vs. Sandia Matadors

The Eldorado Golden Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Sandia Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eldorado played in conference for the first time on Wednesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They strolled past Santa Fe with points to spare, taking the game 41-23. The Golden Eagles pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Demons cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Sandia waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They claimed a resounding 85-30 victory over the Monarchs. The Matadors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.

Sandia's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Eldorado, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Eldorado suffered a grim 64-40 defeat to Sandia in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Eldorado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
