After a string of six wins, Mesilla Valley Christian School's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 53-41 to the Mescalero Apache Chiefs. The SonBlazers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chiefs earlier this season, when they won 51-47.

Mesilla Valley Christian School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Katey Black, who posted 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Benjamin, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Mesilla Valley Christian School's loss dropped their record down to 19-4. As for Mescalero Apache, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mesilla Valley Christian School will take on Eunice at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Eunice will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mesilla Valley Christian School surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mescalero Apache, they will challenge Texico at 6:00 p.m. on March 7th. Mescalero Apache is facing Texico at the right time seeing as Texico is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
