Baseball Recap: Marceline Gets the Win

Marceline's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Milan Wildcats 9-7. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Cody Rodgers was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Weston Molly, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Marceline pushed their record up to 4-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Milan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, Marceline will be taking part in a tournament against West Platte at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Milan, they will welcome Polo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
