Basketball Recap: Dominic Cramer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead John Paul the Great Academy over Brighton

John Paul the Great Academy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Brighton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Brighton Bengals by a score of 40-37. The Guardians' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

John Paul the Great Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dominic Cramer, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Cramer has posted since back in January. Ezra Mouton was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six boards and five steals.

Brighton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Davis Wolfe, who posted 17 points. Wolfe continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole McCurry, who had five points and eight rebounds.

John Paul the Great Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Brighton, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

John Paul the Great Academy will host Faith Training Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brighton, they will head out to face off against Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
