Basketball Recap: Atmore Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Atmore Christian had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They managed a 71-66 win over the Victory Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. The Rams' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Victory Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Easton Durden, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Durden has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Aiden Hays was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Atmore Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Victory Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Atmore Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East Hill Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Victory Christian Academy will take on Southern Christian in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Victory Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
