Softball Recap: Weldon Chargers vs. Warren County Eagles

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Weldon was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warren County Eagles and snuck past 7-6. This was a revenge match for Weldon, as the team was forced to settle for an 18-7 loss when these two played on Monday.

Briana Moody was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her eight plate appearances.

On Warren County's side, Aiyannah Alston made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Harris, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.

Even though they lost, Warren County didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.

Weldon's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Warren County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Weldon will stay at home for another game and welcome Rocky Mount Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warren County, they will head out on the road to take on Vance County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warren County is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 14.6 runs per game this season.
