Basketball Recap: Cypress Lake Comes Up Short

Cypress Lake lost against Island Coast on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cypress Lake Panthers took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Island Coast Gators.

When it comes to explaining why Cypress Lake lost, don't look at Joey Dube - Garrett. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points and eight boards. Dube - Garrett is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Banks, who had ten points and five rebounds.

Island Coast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Izaiah Bacchus out in front who put up 16 points and eight boards. What's more, Bacchus also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jose Bido, who earned 11 points and three steals.

Cypress Lake's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Island Coast, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.

Cypress Lake won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Island Coast, they will challenge Lemon Bay on Wednesday.
