Baseball Recap: Wetumka Has No Trouble Against Indianola

Wetumka barely beat Indianola the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chieftains were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Warriors on Thursday. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chieftains yet this season.

Chaydan Flanagan and Cason Crump did most of the damage at the plate: Flanagan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Crump scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Flanagan posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dario Sila, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Wetumka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Wetumka and bumps their season record up to 5-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Indianola, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Wetumka will challenge Varnum at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Whippets will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight. As for Indianola, they will face off against Wilburton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
