Volleyball Recap: Menlo-Atherton's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

If Menlo-Atherton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell just short of the Carlmont Scots by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Scots earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Menlo-Atherton took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-14, 27-29, 25-19, 17-15.

Menlo-Atherton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nick Sandoval, who had 15 digs and three aces.

With the loss, Menlo-Atherton broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-7. As for Carlmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-15 record this season.

Menlo-Atherton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Aragon on the 7th. As for Carlmont, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Burlingame on the 6th.
