Pemberton dropped down to 7-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against Doane Academy, falling 9-2. The matchup marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Doane Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average this season.

For Doane Academy's part, Jake Powell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Powell has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Chris Powell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matt Kulyk, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Pemberton will square off against Pennsauken at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Doane Academy, they will face off against Delran at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
