Softball Recap: Abbott Panthers vs. Covington Owls
It's playoff time, and Abbott had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Covington Owls on Thursday as they made off with a 21-1 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 14 runs or more this season.

Kinley Grayson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Abbott got a massive performance out of Brinley Russell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Dinah Kaska was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Abbott and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Covington, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Looking ahead, Abbott will challenge Jonesboro on May 2. Covington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
