Softball Recap: Desert Vista Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Desert Vista had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Casteel Colts. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 back in February.

Jessa Ramirez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Mckenzie Leitgen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Desert Vista's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for Casteel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Vista will face off against Xavier College Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Desert Vista 1.9, Xavier College Prep 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Casteel, they will square off against Basha at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
