Baseball Recap: Coffee County Central Red Raiders vs. Cookeville Cavaliers
Coffee County Central had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 22-14 to make it four. They fell just short of the Cookeville Cavaliers by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-0 loss on Friday.
Coffee County Central got a good showing from Isaiah Deadman, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the first time Deadman hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in March.
At the plate, Coffee County Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boone Floyd, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
As for Cookeville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
On Cookeville's side, Case Collins tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Collins has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ty Harrison was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Davidson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As of now, neither Coffee County Central nor Cookeville have any future games scheduled.
