Baseball Recap: Mapleton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mapleton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the South Central Trojans 2-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mounties as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Tyson Welch spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Wrobleski, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Mapleton's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 1-14 when he doesn't).

Mapleton's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for South Central, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.
