Baseball Recap: Wakefield Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Wakefield won the last time they faced Millbrook and things went their way on Friday too. The Wolverines came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 4-1.

Thomas Piscorik made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Piscorik, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Wakefield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Millbrook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Wakefield will be playing in front of their home fans against Athens Drive at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.82 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Millbrook, they are taking a road trip to square off against Corinth Holders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
