Baseball Recap: Shawnee Takes a Loss

Shawnee extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They came up short against the Moore Mustangs, falling 19-3. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2015.

As for Moore, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Moore's part, Skyler Miles and Isaac Northern made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Miles pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Northern tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Miles got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Northern got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave Northern a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luisdel Benites was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Diego Martinez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

As of now, neither Shawnee nor Moore have any future games scheduled.
