Basketball Game Preview: Rappahannock Raiders vs. Mathews Blue Devils

Rappahannock and Mathews are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Rappahannock Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Mathews Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Rappahannock is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Essex on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Rappahannock came up short against Essex, falling 46-22. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.

Meanwhile, Mathews was just a bucket shy of victory last Thursday and fell 31-30 to Charles City.

Mathews' loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Rappahannock, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything came up roses for Rappahannock against Mathews when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 53-22 victory. Does Rappahannock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mathews turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
