Baseball Recap: Fowler Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

Fowler put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They didn't even let the Hoehne Farmers on the board, marking the Grizzlies' second-straight 17-0 shutout. Considering the Grizzlies have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Weston Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Bryce Froman was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Isaiah Montoya was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Fowler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoehne only managed one hit.

Fowler's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Hoehne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Fowler has the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome Rocky Ford at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Meloneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hoehne, they have already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Las Animas on the 21st.
