Recap: North Fork Miners vs. Gunnison Cowboys
The North Fork Miners were the 21-13 winner over the Gunnison Cowboys when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. North Fork lost to Gunnison on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin on Friday. North Fork has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why North Fork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lane Allen. Despite the final result, he rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Allen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Moreno, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown.
Gunnison was led to victory by Royce Uhrig and Graden Buckhanan. Uhrig rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, while Buckhanan rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
North Fork's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Gunnison, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
North Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gunnison is also done with their season.
