Basketball Recap: Menendez Takes a Loss

Menendez and Bishop Kenny squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Menendez had to settle for second. They were dealt a 59-17 loss at the hands of the Bishop Kenny Crusaders. Having soared to a lofty 61 points in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Menendez still got an impressive performance from Jakayla Newsome, who posted five points. Newsome has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Bishop Kenny got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abby Baker out in front who went 7 of 8 en route to 16 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Reese Mayer, who had 11 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Menendez's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9. As for Bishop Kenny, they pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Menendez nor Bishop Kenny have any future games scheduled.
