Basketball Recap: Manitou Springs Comes Up Short

Manitou Springs lost against Salida two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Manitou Springs Mustangs took a hard 68-53 fall against the Salida Spartans.

Despite the loss, Manitou Springs still got an impressive performance from Cohen Barrett, who posted 19 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Barrett's big performance that afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Rhodes, who scored 11 points and seven boards.

Barrett wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Manitou Springs was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Manitou Springs' loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Salida, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Manitou Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-33 win against Buena Vista on the 1st. As for Salida, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-65 victory against Lamar on the 1st.
