Basketball Recap: Emma Broadbent Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grantsville, South Summit was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Morgan Trojans out 66-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since January 23, 2024.

South Summit's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Broadbent, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 20 boards. Broadbent has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last 46 times she's played. Mariah Bowen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine assists.

Despite the loss, Morgan saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zoe Rockenfield posted 22 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rockenfield has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Birkeland, who went 6 of 15 en route to 21 points.

South Summit is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

South Summit has already played their next match, a 48-38 victory against Union on the 6th. As for Morgan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-31 win against Ben Lomond on the 6th.
