Baseball Game Preview: Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers vs. Le Sueur-Henderson Giants

The Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers will face off against the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Minnesota Valley Lutheran 3.9, Le Sueur-Henderson 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 2-1. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Joshua Vander Plas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Minnesota Valley Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Sexton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Le Sueur-Henderson). They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Waseca on Monday. Considering the Giants have won six games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Le Sueur-Henderson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Minnesota Valley Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
