Football Game Preview: Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights vs. Tolsia Rebels + How To Watch

The Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights will take on the Tolsia Rebels at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Back in October, Wheeling Central Catholic humbled Brashear with a 48-20 victory. Considering the Maroon Knights have won four games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Wheeling Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kade Koroneos led the charge by rushing for 114 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. The Maroon Knights are undefeated when Koroneos posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Kusic, who threw for 178 yards and one TD on only 16 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wheeling Central Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

Wheeling Central Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Joey Hall, Will Wear, and Koroneos picked up one apiece. Koroneos' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Tolsia had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against River View by a score of 20-12 on Friday.

Tolsia's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Wheeling Central Catholic barely slipped by Tolsia when the teams last played back in November of 2019, winning 13-12. Will the Maroon Knights repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
