It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greenville had no problem doing just that on Monday. They put the hurt on the Union City Bears with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brandon Stubert was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Solderich, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Greenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only posted an OBP of .059.
The victory made it two in a row for Greenville and bumps their season record up to 15-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Union City, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Coming up, Greenville will take on Saegertown on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.1, the Panthers 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Union City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
