Volleyball Game Preview: Appleton North Lightning vs. Green Bay Preble Hornets

After both having extra time off, the Appleton North Lightning and the Green Bay Preble Hornets will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Appleton North has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 2nd.

Appleton North came up short against Neenah on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Appleton North was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Neenah's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-15, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Green Bay Preble was able to grind out a solid victory over Ashwaubenon on Thursday, taking the game 3-1. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Green Bay Preble had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-19.

Appleton North's loss dropped their record down to 3-33. As for Green Bay Preble, their victory bumped their record up to 19-16.

Appleton North took their win against Green Bay Preble in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
