Basketball Recap: Hazlehurst Comes Up Short

Hazlehurst was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Lawrence County Cougars and fell 51-23. The Indians lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in November of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 55-51 score last time.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nadiyah Nelson, who posted five points. That's the most points Nelson has posted since back in December of 2023.

Hazlehurst's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lawrence County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazlehurst will head out to take on Enterprise at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lawrence County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tylertown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
