Basketball Recap: Dekaney Comes Up Short

Dekaney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Randle Lions 45-12. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 52-18 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Maya Shotwell was Dekaney's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Leading Randle to victory were Kurynn McNeill and Sydney Gilmore. McNeill posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Gilmore had 12 points and six steals. That's the most points McNeill has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanaya Smith-Brown, who put up five points along with five boards and four steals.

Dekaney's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Randle, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9.

Dekaney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-31 win against Aldine on the 10th. As for Randle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-44 victory against Victoria East on the 10th.
