Basketball Recap: Dowagiac Comes Up Short

Dowagiac lost against Berrien Springs back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Dowagiac Chieftains lost to the Berrien Springs Shamrocks at home by a 56-39 margin. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 137th).

Dowagiac has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Berrien Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.

Looking ahead, Dowagiac will head out on the road to face off against Michigan Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Michigan Lutheran has four straight wins, Dowagiac has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Berrien Springs, they will host Mattawan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
