Basketball Recap: Bunkie Takes a Loss

Bunkie was the 61-50 winner over Alexandria when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bunkie Panthers took a 47-29 bruising from the Alexandria Trojans on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Trojans are ranked 38th).

Alexandria's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamaari Collins, who posted nine points and six steals. Collins has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tityana Jackson, who earned four points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

Bunkie has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Alexandria, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 19-5 record this season.

Bunkie has already played their next game (against Oakdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Alexandria will square off against Pineville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexandria is facing Pineville at the right time seeing as Pineville is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
