Soccer Recap: Sterling Takes a Loss

After soaring to four goals the game before, Sterling was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port Neches-Groves Indians. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Indians are ranked 180th).

Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Port Neches-Groves, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-1 record this season.

Sterling will be playing at home against Nederland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Port Neches-Groves, they will head out to take on Port Arthur Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Port Neches-Groves' defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Port Arthur Memorial's offense will have their work cut out for them.
