Basketball Recap: Montgomery County Takes a Loss

Montgomery County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 80-60 to the Claxton Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (57), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Claxton was led to victory by Isaiah Philyaw and Dereon Brewton. Philyaw posted nine points in addition to six assists and five steals, while Brewton dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Philyaw is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Ryce, who scored 11 points and three steals.

Montgomery County's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Claxton, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Montgomery County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-52 defeat against Wheeler County on the 17th. As for Claxton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-46 loss against Jenkins County on the 17th.
