Baseball Recap: Sonora Gets the Win

Sonora proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 11) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Costa Mesa Mustangs.

Robbie Blaine tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Sonora's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Pasillas, who went 2-for-3 with one double. The dominant performance gave Pasillas a new career-high in hits. Anthony Abad also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Sonora now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Costa Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Sonora has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against California on the 4th. As for Costa Mesa, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 loss against Brea Olinda on the 4th.
