Volleyball Recap: Topsail Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Topsail was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Laney last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell just short of the Hoggard Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on September 4th.

Topsail took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-4.

Valentina Bugnatto paced Topsail's offense, picking up 13 kills. Bugnatto got some help from Hannah Losey and her 23 assists. Anna Pullinger controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

The loss snapped Topsail's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 11-5 record. As for Hoggard, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Topsail has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against South Central on the 1st. As for Hoggard, they will host Laney at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
