Recap: Poca The Dots vs. Clay County Panthers

The Poca The Dots came into Monday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 54-42 win over Clay County on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Poca also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Lindzie Runions had a dynamite game for Poca, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Runions has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Raynes, who scored 13 points along with five steals.

Poca's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Clay County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poca will take on Charleston Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Charleston Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Monday. As for Clay County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Webster County at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Webster County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
