Softball Game Preview: MacDonald Condor vs. Saratoga Falcons

The MacDonald Condor will challenge the Saratoga Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. MacDonald has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

MacDonald came up short against Santa Clara on Wednesday, falling 19-9.

Kyleena Stone was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Saratoga waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Pioneers as they made off with a 12-1 win. The match marked the Falcons' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Saira Ramakrishnan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Alyssa Tham was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Riera, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Saratoga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Saratoga pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for MacDonald, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
